The All People’s Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yayah Tunis has said the Party is currently reassessing the roster of new Members of Parliament who will represent the APC in the upcoming sixth parliament.

This reconsideration comes subsequent to a mediated dialogue agreement between the APC and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government.

During the recent 2023 elections, a new Proportional Representation or District Block system was employed. Each political party was required to submit a list of candidates based on their election-obtained percentage threshold. The APC adhered to this by presenting two names for each district or block, following a predetermined order.

Yet, recent developments have spurred the APC to review this list. As per reports, certain names have been removed while others have been repositioned in the sequence.

The APC’s spokesperson emphasised that the primary impetus for this review stems from the suspension of two recently elected MPs, Hon. Mohamed Bangura and Hon. Alfred Thompson.

These MPs have been accused of engaging in anti-party activities by taking the oath of office in the House of Parliament, despite the party’s directive to abstain from governance at all levels following the contentious June 23, 2023 election results

announced by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL). alignment with the party’s directives and positions.
