After a press release from the Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) annoucing the closure of Mano Bridge to vehicular movement due to some damages on the deck of the bridge, Sierra Mineral Holdings 1 Limited (SMHL- Vimetco) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) has rehabilitated the deck.

Upon request from the Mano community stakeholders for SMHL-Vimetco to repair the bridge, the company swiftly deployed its engineers to inspect the bridge. The inspection team led by Ing. Abdulai J. Barrie identify the hazardous nature of the bridge to users.

With the present SMHL Leadership of  Alex Ivanov as General Manager, who is renowned for passion to work with Community Stakeholders adhered to the call of the Hon. PC Haja Fatmata Bintu Meama Kajue Koroma and assured her that the company will rehabilitate the bridge to the level that it becomes accessible to vehicular movement.

Mr Ivanov said, SMHL is known for fullfilling its corporate social responsibilities which is the foundation in which the company is built. He said despite the company is going through difficult financial crisis, but he is making sure  that all commitmments towards supporting the community continues.

If you can recall, similar perches was done three years ago by the company. The Community Affairs Manager of SMHL-Vimetco Joseph Amadu said this bridge links Baja Junction and Mano in the Dasse chiefdom and during the raining seasoning, the traffic on this road is huge.

He said since the Bumpe bridge linking Moriba town to Bo is closed to vehicle traffic, the Mano route has been the ultimate route to travel to Njala Mokonde and Bo.

Hon. PC Haja Fatmata Bintu Meama Kajue Koroma expressed gratitude to the company for their speedy intervention. She said SMHL-Vimetco is always ready to support its host communities when they are in need. She called on the SLRA to inspect the perches done on the road and declare it open to the public.
